Darryl Casey has been helping people work toward their fitness goals since 1989. His 37 years of personal training experience are grounded in exercise science, practical coaching, and an understanding that each person brings different goals, abilities, and life experiences to training.
Education and Teaching
Darryl attended Trevecca Nazarene University and Tennessee State University before earning his degree in Exercise Physiology and Sports Medicine from Belmont University. He also taught fitness, health and wellness, and exercise education classes at Belmont, sharing his knowledge of movement, fitness, and healthy living.
Learning Across Orthopedics and Physical Therapy
As an exercise physiology / sports medicine / pre-med student, Darryl spent several years shadowing orthopedic physicians and observing surgeries. These experiences gave him a closer look at anatomy, injuries, and the demands of recovery.
He also completed physical therapy internships and observational experiences at Vanderbilt University and in private physical therapy practices, learning alongside physical therapists about movement, rehabilitation, and the process of returning to activity.
Sports Medicine Experience
Through sports medicine, Darryl gained experience alongside athletic trainers across different sports, learning about injury prevention, rehabilitation, and athletic training. This exposure helped shape his appreciation for thoughtful progression and the different demands placed on the body.
Training Built Around You
These educational and observational experiences inform Darryl’s approach as a personal trainer. He uses that background to individualize exercise, adapt training to a person’s starting point, and build toward goals that matter in daily life. His role is personal training and exercise education; these experiences do not represent practicing medicine or physical therapy.
Whether your goal is to become stronger, improve your movement, support your sports performance, or stay active as you age, Darryl’s focus is on helping you make progress that fits your life.
“Fitness should improve your life, not just your performance in the gym.”
